Termites

Strand Termite & Pest Control has provided termite soil treatments for new construction throughout our service area for over 40 years. We proudly provide these services for custom builders, national builders, and even homeowners.

What is a termite soil treatment?
The standards for termite treatment vary depending on the type of new construction. For example, monolithic or raised block slab, crawlspaces, beach houses, or any combination of these types of construction types require treatment application to the areas where the structure meets the soil. The amount of termiticide needed depends on the construction style.

Termite soil treatment services include: Treating soil below slab construction homes, treating the soil areas around plumbing penetrations, all the soil below dirt-filled porches, all of the soil underneath slab garages, soil adjacent to the inside of scrawl space foundation walls, areas around piers, inside of all voids, and the outer perimeter of any construction type once the final grade of the soil is established.
Do I Get a Warranty?
When the structure is first treated, the builder is provided with a one year warranty, which starts the day of the treatment. Strand also offers an additional four year warranty to the homeowner that will cover the cost of repairing or replacing any termite damage or treatment cost that occurs during the contractual period.

Products
Strand Termite & Pest Control only uses brand name termiticides such as, Imidacloprid, Bifenthrin, Termidor, and Talstar One. All of these products are backed by leading manufacturers in the industry and applied by our highly trained staff.

Bora-Care Pre Treatments

The Bora-Care pre-construction treatments for termites are approved as a "stand alone" treatment for newly constructed buildings. This treatment method has been approved both by the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development AND the Southern Building Codes Congress International since 1999. The Dept. of Pesticide Regulation in SC also lists Bora-Care as a "stand alone" termite treatment method.

Why Treat the Wood?
Sometimes, due to poor weather, standard soil treatment cannot be performed. The Bora-Care method allows the builder to continue working without losing time. Also, Strand can perform the service without halting the building process and provide the owner of the property with a repair warranty.

What Do We Treat and When?
This service requires all of the wooden members in the structure that meet with the slab and two feet up to be treated. This includes inside partition walls, inner foundation walls, attached garage, and outer foundation walls.

Once the "dried in" stage of construction is completed, this service can be performed. This can be done once the interior and exterior walls are in place, the roof is on, and the structure is framed. Until the wooden members are treated, no showers, tubs, house wrap, insulation, electricity, or plumbing can be installed.

Additionally, Strand must be notified in a timely manner before completing this treatment, and same-day notice may result in delayed service due to prior commitments).

After treatment has been finished, the construction process can continue without interruption. All additions or changes to the treated places will require extra treatment. Please call us if this happens.

Termite Post-Treatment Protection

Why Do I Need Termite Treatment?
In the Southern Coastal region, subterranean termite pressure is among the highest in the U.S. These termites cause billions of dollars in damage every year to properties of all sizes. In places of high subterranean termite pressure, such as Brunswick, Horry, and Georgetown, many homeowners experience infestations. This can cause serious damage to property. These homeowners trust Strand Termite & Pest Control and our 40+ years of experience to assist them with their termite issues.

Termite treatment can either be performed as a preventative or curative measure. Why wait until your home is damaged?

What is a Termite Treatment?
For an existing structure, treating termites can require multiple steps, such as:
  • Inspection
  • Identifying Activity and Problem Areas
  • Formulating a Plan for Treatment
  • Performing Planned Treatment
  • And Quality Control Follow-Up
At Strand Termite & Pest Control, we specialize in performing conventional liquid termite treatments. This method provides quick results that prevent and eliminate the termites within 90 days. To achieve these faster results, a liquid barrier is created around your home at potential termite entry points. Depending on the features of your construction, our reps can access these entry points by creating a trench around the outside of your home's foundation. Then, they apply the barrier as the label instructs them.

Porches, patios, another construction features may also have to be treated with this method. Also, access panels may need to be installed to prevent future termite infestations underneath your shower or bathtub.

Do You Have to do All of This Drilling?
To put it simply, no. Due to new chemicals being introduced into the industry, Strand can provide you with a Termidor Perimeter Plus termite treatment, which requires less drilling. Critical areas that can be more susceptible to termite infestation will still need to be treated, which can be discussed with our trained inspectors. Ask us about a Termidor treatment today.

All of our work is guaranteed!

Termite Warranty Inspections

After the initial treatment, we offer the builder a one-year warranty. We also offer the homeowner a four- year warranty. It covers the cost of termite damage treatment or replacement cost during the contract period. A minimum five-year warranty is available for all newly built homes.
